AI Game Master

A GM That Actually Remembers

An AI Game Master that tracks every decision, every NPC interaction, every promise you made. Come back after weeks — the world is exactly where you left it.

Play solo with a deterministic rules engine — D&D 5E and Basic Fantasy RPG, with more rulesets coming. Real dice rolls determine real outcomes. The AI narrates what happens; it doesn't decide what happens.

A guidance slider lets you tune the experience between strict rules enforcement and active storytelling — find the balance that fits your playstyle.

Your relationships, reputation, enemies, and debts persist indefinitely. Other platforms rely on AI memory that loses details over time. RoleForge's persistence is structural — the blacksmith remembers you saved her daughter. The guard remembers you didn't.

Hero Creation & Identity

Create Your Hero in Minutes

No rulebook required. The AI walks you through creating your first Hero step by step — pick a class, build a backstory, understand your abilities. Then watch your character come to life.

Choose Quick Forge for a streamlined creation flow, or Master Forge for full control over every detail. Both produce a complete, mechanically valid character ready to play.

Portrait Forge generates a unique portrait for your Hero in six distinct art styles — from painterly realism to stylized anime. Your Hero has a face as unique as their backstory. Spend Forge Coins to generate additional portraits whenever your Hero's story takes a new turn.

The Equipment Wizard lets you gear up visually — armor, weapons, and accessories appear on your portrait. Your character looks the part before the first dice roll.

Narrative & Tone

Your Narrator, Your Style

Tell the AI how you like your stories told — gritty and terse, or epic and verbose. Fine-tune six dimensions of your Adventure's personality. The world doesn't just sound different — it looks different too.

A six-axis tone engine gives you control over how the narrator speaks, how dark the themes get, how detailed the descriptions are, and more. From grimdark to cozy — and everything between.

Your mood choices don't just change the words — they change how the entire world looks. Dark stories get moody art. Bright adventures glow. Tone is visual, not just textual.

Set the mood before your first Adventure, and the map-narrative synchronization keeps everything in sync. Move on the map and the story follows. The narrator sees what you see — enter a room and hear it described exactly as it appears. Content Safety controls let you set your boundaries and explore boldly.

Interactive Maps

Maps That Look Hand-Drawn Because They Are

Every dungeon, forest, and city is rendered in genre-specific hand-drawn style. 86 terrain types, 400+ unique objects, 28 location styles. No generic tiles.

Three-state fog of war reveals the world as you explore it. Undiscovered areas are hidden. Visited areas fade to memory. Your current surroundings are vivid and alive. Heroes with darkvision can actually see in the dark — and the map shows it.

Zoom out from individual rooms to see entire locations — a full castle, a sprawling cave system, a village. Step outside into open landscapes — forests, plains, mountain passes, and coastlines. A hex world map with terrain-modulated reveal ties it all together.

Click on objects to interact: open chests, examine altars, read inscriptions. Your Hero appears as an illustrated standee — not a generic token. Torchlight flickers, magical auras shimmer, and creatures emerge with hand-inked animation. Genre-themed exit markers activate when you walk to them.

During combat, a portrait-based turn bar shows who goes next at a glance, and a movement range indicator shows exactly how far you can go — so you can plan your moves without counting squares.

AI Scene Illustrations

See the Story, Not Just Read It

Key story moments rendered as AI-generated illustrations during play — combat standoffs, dramatic reveals, quiet campfire scenes. Your adventure becomes visual.

The AI recognizes pivotal moments — a tense negotiation, a dragon emerging from fog, a party gathered around a fire — and generates artwork to match. Illustrations appear dynamically as you play, not as static assets.

Scene art adapts to your genre and tone settings. A grimdark battle looks fundamentally different from a whimsical tavern brawl. The visuals follow your world's personality. Forge Coins are RoleForge's premium currency — spend them to unlock extra scene illustrations, portraits, and creative AI features as your adventure grows.

Genre & Visual Theming

Every Genre Has Its Own Soul

Dark fantasy looks and feels fundamentally different from space opera or noir mystery. Each genre transforms the entire experience — narration, maps, art, and UI.

RoleForge supports multiple rulesets and genres: D&D 5E, Basic Fantasy RPG, with Sci-Fi, Horror, Cyberpunk, and more coming. Each ruleset has its own mechanics, character options, and world-building conventions.

The XDL Visual Theme System transforms the entire experience per genre. The AI Game Master adapts its narration, the maps shift art style, and the world logic changes to match. A grimdark dungeon crawl looks and feels fundamentally different from a cozy forest adventure.

World & NPCs

NPCs That Remember You

Shopkeepers, guards, and allies remember how you've treated them. Swindle a merchant and they won't forget. Save a blacksmith's daughter and she'll remember. Your reputation follows you — for better or worse.

NPC Social Intelligence means every interaction leaves a mark. The blacksmith remembers you saved her daughter. The guard remembers you tried to bribe him. Trust is earned and lost through play, not scripted.

Join factions, build standing, and unlock faction-specific dialogue and story paths. Your allegiances open doors — and close others. Play solo with a single hero, build a multi-character party, or add AI mercenaries — the world scales to your playstyle.

Inventory & Economy

Every Potion, Sword, and Trinket

See everything you're carrying — equipped gear, backpack contents, coin pouch. Use consumables, swap equipment, manage your loadout without breaking the narrative flow.

Browse a merchant's wares, haggle for deals, buy supplies, and sell loot. NPC shopkeepers have their own inventory and personality — merchants who remember their best customers.

Defeat enemies and find meaningful rewards — narrated as part of the story, automatically added to your inventory. Gear management that feels like discovery, not bookkeeping.
