Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about RoleForge, from how the AI Game Master works to getting started with your first adventure.
Gameplay
Yes. And it feels like the actual game you're used to — not AI improv with fantasy window dressing. Real character sheets. Real dice rolls. Real rules. The AI handles what a GM would: narration, NPC reactions, world response. But the mechanics don't bend to make you feel good. You earn your victories.
The same way your favorite video game remembers your save file. The same way a great GM keeps notes. Except these notes never get lost, never get coffee-stained, never get forgotten. Not AI memory tricks. Not summarization that loses details. Your world simply is — exactly as you left it, because it was never anywhere else.
Rules that actually work. Persistence that actually persists. When you roll a 3, you miss — the AI doesn't decide otherwise. When an NPC meets you for the tenth time, they remember the first nine. When you come back after six months, your world is exactly where you left it. This is game infrastructure, not AI improv.
Yes — multiple ways. Play solo with a single hero, create a multi-character party you control, or add AI-driven mercenaries with their own personalities and combat styles. Co-op multiplayer with friends sharing the same world, NPCs, and consequences is coming soon.
Sign up, create a character (the AI walks you through it), and start playing. RoleForge uses real D&D-style rules — ability scores, skill checks, saving throws, advantage/disadvantage — with an AI Game Master handling narration, NPCs, and world response. The rules engine resolves every roll; the AI never overrides the dice. Read our full guide to playing D&D solo with an AI Game Master for tips and comparisons.
Not at all. We have living worlds ready to explore — wander freely, discover random encounters, stumble into adventure hooks that pull you into crafted story arcs whenever you're ready. Think of it like a world full of modules waiting to be discovered. You can follow the story threads or ignore them and see what else is out there.
RoleForge currently supports d20 Fantasy and Old School Fantasy rulesets, with Sci-Fi, Horror, and more genres coming soon. Each ruleset has its own mechanics, character options, and world-building conventions. The AI Game Master handles the rules so you can focus on the story.
For MMO and CRPG Players
Because you're tired of being the Chosen One alongside millions of identical Chosen Ones. Tired of NPCs who say the same things to everyone, every time. Tired of 'choices' that lead to the same outcomes. Here, your choices actually change the world state. NPCs that actually remember you — hurt them: they hate you, help them: they love you. Your story is actually yours. Same persistence you loved. Actual agency you never had.
Getting Started
Any device with a browser. RoleForge works on desktop, tablet, and mobile — play on your laptop at home or your phone on the go. Native iOS and Android apps are on the roadmap. Sign up, pick a world, create a character, and start playing.
As long as you want. Jump in for twenty minutes on a lunch break, or play for hours on a weekend. Your world is always there, always exactly as you left it. There's no minimum session length and no penalty for stepping away.
No. The AI Game Master handles all the rules, dice rolls, and mechanics for you. If you've never played an RPG before, RoleForge is a great way to start — the system teaches you as you play. If you're a veteran RPG, MMO or CRPG player, you'll appreciate that the rules are real and consistently applied.

Privacy and Safety
Yes. Your worlds, characters, and game data are private by default. We don't sell your data. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Erotic, pornographic, and sexually explicit content is strictly prohibited, and we actively enforce this. That said, RoleForge does offer a Mature content setting — think rated R, fade-to-black. Romance, tension, implied intimacy? Absolutely fair game. Love interests, drama, heartbreak, all welcome. But the camera cuts away. Gratuitous gore for shock value is also off the table — violence can serve the story, but torture porn doesn't belong here. We want a place where bold storytelling thrives without crossing into exploitation.
Yes, with parental consent and supervision. A parent or legal guardian must review and agree to our Terms of Service on the minor's behalf. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle minors' data.
RoleForge has a Family content setting designed specifically for younger players. Think G/PG — Shrek, The Princess Bride, Avatar: The Last Airbender, early Harry Potter. Combat is cartoon-level ("the goblin stumbles back"), romance stops at friendship and hand-holding, and themes stay lighthearted, whimsical, and hopeful. No blood, gore, dark themes, moral ambiguity, or anything that keeps kids up at night.
The Family setting is a hard ceiling, not a suggestion. Even if a player tries to change their preference, the system enforces the most restrictive level — so a Family-rated world stays Family, period. Parents set the rating; the system holds the line.
